Common Sense

Proverbs 29:11 (KJV)

11 A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.

The Bible teaches us to be wise with our words and guard our hearts against spilling out foolishness. Proverbs 29:11 tells us that a fool utters all his mind, but a wise man keeps it in until afterward. This verse encourages us to slow down and think about what we say and how it will affect others. In our haste, we are often tempted to speak without thinking and this can lead us into trouble or hurt the feelings of those around us. We should take time to process what we want to say before we express ourselves in order to avoid saying something foolish, unwise, or even hurtful. Let us always strive to be wise in our conversations, choosing our words carefully and with purpose. Let us always remember that a fool utters all his mind, but a wise man keeps it in until afterward.

Proverbs 1:7 (KJV)

7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

The above scripture speaks to us about the importance of trusting in God's Word and the power of knowledge that comes from it. It reminds us to approach life with humility and wisdom, rather than carelessness or arrogance. The fear of the Lord encourages us to be humble as we seek guidance in our lives, so we can grow in knowledge and understanding. We should always seek out instruction from God's Word, for it has so much to offer us. We should also be sure to share what we learn with others, so that they too may benefit from the precious knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Proverbs 14:16 (KJV)

16 A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.

The wisdom of Proverbs 14:16 is timeless and still applicable to our lives today. It reminds us that the path of right will always be the safest and most rewarding. When we make decisions based on fear or confidence, we are susceptible to making mistakes that can have long-lasting consequences. Fear of the consequences of wrong decisions is a good reminder that we should strive to make wise choices. On the other hand, too much confidence can result in overconfidence which can lead us down the wrong path. Wise decision-making requires balanced judgment and the right perspective. May we keep our focus on righteousness rather than vain pursuits so that we may prosper in all that we do.
