KJV:
But the field, when it goeth out in the jubile, shall be holy unto the LORD, as a field devoted; the possession thereof shall be the priest's.
NKJV:
But the field, when it is released in the Jubilee, shall be holy to the LORD, as a devoted field; it shall be the possession of the priest.
NIV:
When the field is released in the Jubilee, it will become holy, like a field devoted to the LORD; it will become priestly property.
Interpretation:
The verse describes what happens to a field in the Year of Jubilee. It becomes holy to the Lord, set apart like a devoted field. The field goes to the priest as his possession. The verse shows that certain things are set apart for God. Things devoted to God are treated differently from normal property. The field's change in status shows it belongs to God. When something is devoted to God, it is removed from normal use. The verse teaches that what belongs to God is holy and separate.
