KJV:
And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you.
NKJV:
I will destroy your high places, cut down your incense altars, and cast your carcasses on the lifeless forms of your idols; and My soul shall abhor you.
NIV:
I will destroy your high places, cut down your incense altars and pile your dead bodies on the lifeless forms of your idols, and I will abhor you.
Interpretation:
God warns that He will destroy the places where Israel worshipped idols. He will cut down their images and pile their dead bodies on their idols. God's soul will abhor them because of their sin. The verse shows the seriousness of idolatry. When people reject God for idols, God rejects them. The image of dead bodies on lifeless idols shows the futility of idol worship. God's abhorrence of sin is real, but His warnings come so people can turn from sin. Those who persist in idolatry face God's judgment.
